Grime Garms’ Top 5 Checkered Shirts (October ’09)
Strangely throughout September in the UK, we had some sunshine. Not the typical British weather. But now into October, the days are getting shorted, and the weather, well, colder. Time to ditch the short sleeve shirts and polo’s and get out the long-sleeve and hoodies! Here at Grime Garms, we have got together our favourite checkered shirts and put together a top 5. Variation of classic styles, colours, and alternative brands. Well, here they are:
1. Blue Hardison Shirt by 10 Deep
This one being my favourite out of them all. I’ve liked this top by 10 Deep for a while now. I especially like the different shades of blue together and how they work. A definite winner for me. Avaliable at Chemical Records for £63.49. Sadly though, only in small. So, I’ve found an alternative website where you can purchase it! Buy it at Consortium.co.uk. Yet again, only limited to a size Medium for £49.99. A very popular shirt as you can see!
2. Palnackie Shirt by Jack Wills
I did say at the start, alternative styles and brands! Here we have the more ‘preppy’ look with this shirt. If you don’t know about Jack Wills (I don’t want to know about Jack Wills – Ben), think Oxford or Cambridge students. You don’t necessarily have to have the ‘Jack Wills look’ to pull of the clothes available at the Jack Wills shop. Easily worn with a nice pair of jeans and clean trainers. Available over at Jack Will’s website for a knock down price of £39.

3. Money Green 323 Shirt by 10 Deep
Another feature by 10 Deep. The same as #1, but if a different colour. Yet again, it’s the contrasting colours that do it for me. The lighter shade with a darker shade on top just works so well. Again, available at Chemical Records for £51.72. Only in XL though. Bit of a disappointment eh? (You can probably get it from somewhere else in the size you need though – Ben)
4. LRG Big Game Ls Woven Shirt – Red
The classic red and black checkered top. You simply can’t go wrong with it. A timeless shirt that can be worn again, and again, and again. LRG have various different colours in this style, don’t forget to check them out. Visit Urban Industry [to get this for the price of £46.99.

5. Crossbill: L/S Military Shirt by Boxfresh
The other 4 shirts being colourful, I think an inclusion of a black shirt just incase. Since Boxfresh sponsored Kidulthood with clothing, the brand has shot up! Recently they had an interview with Grime Forum about the work they’ve been putting in. After hooking up with Chockablock, and being involved with Frisco’s launch party, Boxfresh has been putting out the hits with the clothing. Here is another hit (I personally think anyway). If like me, you like this shirt, head over to the Boxfresh website and pick this up for £60.

Sorry about some of the sizing of the shirts, but this time of year, brands are short on some sizes as they’re introducing clothing for the new season. Keep an eye out for more ‘Top 5/10’ on clothing coming soon!
